The Biggest, Bestest Makeup Bag Ever!!!

I hope Santa treated everyone lovely, I'm just coming together! I ate (an drank) tooo much. Even though Mom is Brooklyn, and I'm in Gramercy...she's out of my 14 block radius so I don't get home cooking often.

Anyhooz, isn't the bag GORGEOUS?!?

I had mentioned to my man that I need to get a new carryall bag for the HG makeup essentials that don't fit in my kit! And up under the tree was the biggest MARCbyMARCJACOBS shopping bag I've ever seen. My mind was racing; is it a coat, a jacket, a fierce head to toe outfit???? When I opened the bag and saw the large white cotton protective bag I just knew it was a 'murse.' A large crinkly patent leather bag of loveliness in all her glory!! I literally had a bagasm! There are 4 LARGE compartments that can hold my see-thru travel bags and ALL my hair stuff. {I mean the bottom double zipper compartment opens so wide it can hold ALL my things for doing 'light hair.' I mean the hot rollers, curling iron, hair dryer, bag of combs & brushes & products can fit.}

My only problem is that since the bag is soo large, I know have to find space in the storage closet for the new bag & my travel bags.

The gang at Specktra are going kourazy over MAC by Fafi coming this February.

I'm not that excited!! The plum lippie is horrendous, hopefully they changed the formula! The quad I have has 2 re-promotes in it, that's not kool! I'm hoping they changed the shades!!

There are a few things I have my eye on...
Pink Lipstick
Lipglass
Fluidlines
Beauty Powder
2nd Eye Quad
Purse

Prep Day

I had to run around today and do some last minute shopping for my shoots tomorrow & monday. I really only needed a matte foundation, and I really like the foundations coming from MUFE at the moment (at what's in my price range.) I did stop by at MAC Pro for some of the new accessories out!

I also had to run by Parke & Ronen to pull some clothes for the men's shoot on monday. It should be cute. I get to pick them up on Sunday.

That's everything, not bad for $100+ after discounts.
MUFE Mat Velvet + Foundation #38
MUFE Fake Blood
MUFE eyeshadow pot #46
MUFE Lipstick palette #19, Pink Orchid Harmony
MAC Drizzlegold Loose Beauty Powder
MAC 1oz Travel Jars (2)
MAC Multi-Purpose Sponges (2)
MAC Disposable Cotton swabs 3pk - 60 total

I'm loving the black disposable cotton swabs available through MAC right now!! The black cotton swabs were originally only available in Japan. The black cotton is great because it doesn't unravel as fast as the cotton on a q-tip.

My original intention was to stop by MUFE an get some matte foundation for my test with a girl from Q tomorrow. Once they mentioned 50% off some discontinued items, I suddenly needed fake blood, a lip palette, and a shimmery kelly green eye shadow.

What I LOVE about the palette, is that the lipsticks slide out, there's a mirror inside the palette and it comes it with a great lil lip brush! FIERCENESS!!!

They only have LARGE shopping bags, I only needed the 2 samples with white caps. I LOVE FREE SHIT!!!

Spring 2008 - Color briefs

So the past 2 days have been RIDIC!!! I had the fantastic, fabulous, amazing opportunity to attend (as a guest) the Spring Color shoot for the official beauty bible by the King of Makeup, SM. I was standing by watching, playing with and organizing the colors provided by different brands to the bible and ultimately for the shoot. Two days of hanging out with some of the Legendary Tastemakers, watching and observing, playing with makeup.....who could ask for more!?!

The Brief
Spring 2008 colors are going to peaches, pinks, terracotta, bronze shimmers, mushrooms, (taupe and brown shades & tones,) indigo (blue) liner & shadow, icy colors (white & pink shimmers, iridescents, metallics, etc,.) and plumbs & purples for eyes & lips.

From what I could see MAC is really banging out some new paint pots, lipsticks, shadows and collaborative collections. The MAC for FAFI is going to be sick just because of the packaging. The quad form this collection has to be the biggest I've seen come from MAC (although we weren't that impressed with the colors available by shoot time) and the plum lipstick that comes with it, is not cute at all!! Although there was this pink shimmer lipstick (that looked Heatherette, 'cept for the packaging.) Laura Mercier has her color story ready for Spring. Lots of luscious powders, shadows, blushes and lippies. Shu is doing for MODE makeup this spring, lots of peach & pink colors coming from them. Of course the drugstore brands were represented, but untouched.

The Peeps
Hair guru SN is absolutely FLAWLESS!!!! He has such a great personality I can see why he's booked every day!!! I never laughed so hard in my life, especially today!! Mr. PC, the CD of the beauty bible is just as hilarious. He has such a sharp, cutting sense of humor you have to stay on your toes with that one. The manicurist was tooo many things, all of it good though! And then the legendary photographer MT was just the best!

What did I learn
  • Not to be afraid of color. Strong eyes & lips can go together!
  • Use cream shadow more often as a base.
  • Layer all you want, but you better blend it bitch!!!
  • Bruna is the most professional model I've met so far in my career.
  • SM made the best mu out there!! His mascara wand wand the sickest an best I've ever seen! (I will be shopping ebay for his collection)
  • Invest in Clea De Peau, it's the best makeup available next to SM's own stuff!

Make Up is For Ever and Ever and Ever...

So yesterday I stopped by Make Up For Ever downtown on 12th Street. I've been getting bulletins from the crew at MUFE about this HOT must-have moisturizer from France called Embryolisse ($20 for tube, $37 for large bottle. Pro discounts available.) I'm all about skin-care on set these days, so of course I had to check it out.

At first I asked for a small sample to rub into my hands so I could get a feel for it myself. It was love at first rub. My hands were literally sending THANK YOU impulses to my brain!!! I mean it's that good!! It didn't leave an oily, greasy feeling like some moisturizers can. It also left a great sheen to the skin, making my hands look healthy!!

I would totally recommend this moisturizer for hands, face and body! I would suggest getting down to the MUFE store and getting some for yourself. If not for yourself you should get some for the beauty lover in your life.

While at MUFE I remembered I wanted another blush brush for my kit. Do you know MUFE uses squirrel hair for their brushes!?! Squirrel hair is considered among the BEST hair for makeup brushes. I know some mua's that pay $100's of dollars for high end squirrel hair brushes. So of course I snatched one for myself. I can't wait to use it on set and see the difference between the squirrel hair and the sable and goat hair brushes I've been using.

I also picked up a crystal makeup bag to carry my MUFE foundations (love the MUFE Face & Body foundation) then stopped by MAC Pro to check out the Stylistics collection {That's a different post.} I only got a lip gloss (Witty-Intense red with pearl:Frost)

Beat ya face later.

Lancome event at Bloomingdale's

So last friday was the Lancome event at Bloomingdale's featuring Lancome National Art Director Ross Burton. How can I best describe the scene; madness, crazy, circus....those words fit best. I have to say I was a bit overwhelmed upon arrival. There were makeup stations everywhere with uptown mamas lookin freshly injected an stretched (if u get my drift) for Ross and his team to beat those faces. I was introduced to Ross by SA/MA Dijana Mesin. I was able to talk with him about my career goals and aspirations. We exchanged business cards (he had just run out to his surprise, I still gave him mine) and he said he would give me a call or email when he's back in town so I can come down to his office, paint a face and show him my skills. I'll keep u posted, fingers crossed hopin for it to happen.

I decided to get the Color Design Artist Palette in Cool ($70-USD.) I liked the packaging. Very chic, modern, minimal. The mirror inside was very cute and useful for those days when I don't have a mirror on set. The shades are rich in pigment and have a great texture to them. I can't wait to use this on set.

This was the best part of the gift with purchase. You got a full jar of their Renergie face cream, a sample tube of their Primordial Cell Defense cream, a small color design palette containing 4 shadows and a blush, a sample of the Lancome Hypnose mascara, Le Rouge Absolu lipstick, and Bi-Facil makeup remover!!! We love free shit don't we!

This cute bag came with any purchase over $50. My boyfriend wants me to give it away to my mom or one of my sisters as a gift. Oh hell no!!! This is a fierce fagbag for when I'm feelin ultra-dandy!!!

Ross Burton, Lancome National Art Director at Bloomingdale's

I received this flyer in the mail the other day after finally receiving my Allure subscription. Although I really don't need a beauty appointment, I am going to stop by and say hello. Maybe he'll be able to offer some tips & tricks so I can make the models I work with as beautiful as the celebs he works with.

M.A.C Studio Lights

I love this product from M.A.C! They go great over concealer to help you 'look awake' and brightens those dark under circles. They can also be used as a liquid highlighter and contour the high planes of the face. I picked up one in every shade option, plus extras in Sand and Skin Lure. I'll go back today to get backup of Ideal Pink as well. I wouldn't suggest going to MAC Pro if you're in NYC. They were just put in the drawers yesterday, my MA was a little confused as to why there were only 6 units from each line, plus they had a studio class with Paul Mitchell Systems....I doubt if the Pro store has any more.

Starting Fresh!

Birds flying high
You know how I feel
Fish in the Sea
You know how I feel
Stars when you shine
You know how I feel
It's a new dawn
It's a new day
It's a new life
For me
And I'm feeling good!

~Song lyrics by Nina Simone
